Paying a mortgage, having sensible jobs, and now engaged to be married; Carl and Malia were starting to look like a proper grown-up and responsibly couple. Which, of course, they were, but that didn't mean they wouldn't still have fun with their friends.
Malia, for example, loved to support her performer friends, such as Roberto Vega; a very popular acrobat and juggler who frequently drew an appreciative crowd at the Flying V.
As it happens he wasn't that great a juggler but Roberto knew how to put on a good show, good enough that you might just believe he meant to drop those batons!
Carl, on the other hand, loved to dress up! Especially when his good friend, the irrepressible Liam O'Dourke hosted a costume party.
No one was quite sure how he did it, but every costume Carl came up with would be more bizarre or outrageous than the last.
Costumes were not really Malia's thing but she did enjoy trying out new looks.
The upcoming wedding was the ideal excuse for a visit to her favourite stylist at Barney's.
